The Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein is one of the most famous concert halls in the world and a central venue for the Wiener Mozart Konzert. Since its opening in 1870 in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph I, the Musikverein has stood for the highest musical quality and tradition.
The hall gained worldwide fame through the Vienna Philharmonic’s annual New Year’s Concert, which is broadcast internationally. Its extraordinary acoustics, often referred to as the “Golden Sound”, are the result of ideal proportions, classical architecture and numerous sound-scattering elements such as balconies, sculptures and galleries. The result is a perfectly balanced and clear sound that is regarded as a benchmark worldwide.
The Golden Hall seats around 1,700 people and is fully air-conditioned.
